Ben is a Shareholder in the Energy Practice Group at Polsinelli P.C. and is a passionate advocate for developers, investors, finance partners and other energy market participants. His primary focus is in supporting the development, permitting, regulatory and transactional needs related to community and utility scale solar, wind and battery portfolios. He has permitted over 1 GW of generation and storage and has served as counsel in over 100 permit hearings in Illinois. Ben is a frequent advisor to clients appearing before the Illinois Commerce Commission in both certificate and dispute proceedings and participated in the most recent Long-Term Renewable Resources Procurement Plan docket. Additionally, Ben has closed numerous financing and M&A deals and serves as key counsel in opinions and negotiations. Prior to joining Polsinelli, Ben represented local governments in their permitting and regulation of wind and solar developments. He also served two years as a federal law clerk for the Northern District of Illinois after graduating law school.

Ben in an enthusiastic consumer of energy news and market analysis. He obtained a law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2008 and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 2005.
